A modern deployment should publish an updated privacy policy describing exactly what is collected for security, rate limiting, abuse handling, logs, storage and legal compliance.

Use data minimization, short retention periods for security logs, hashed identifiers where practical, and clear disclosure of any third-party storage provider.
